Dictionary Definitions of Persistence:

A firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. 

The act or fact of stubbornly continuing to do something. 

Continuing beyond the usual, expected or normal time: not stopping or going away.

The ability to stick with something.

Biblical Definition:

Perseverance: freedom from the bashfulness that would stop a person from asking a second time. Knocking once does not indicate perseverance, but "continued" knocking does. God often answers us after long and persevering requests. An answer may not come immediately. To continue earnestly. This requires patience, determination and, at times, a willingness to wrestle with God for the desired outcome.
